An instructor may choose to place a copy of their courses' textbooks on reserve in the library. Not all instructors wish to do so.
Ask a librarian to help you search to see if your textbook is on reserve, or you may search the library catalog yourself to see if a textbook has been placed on reserve for your course.
Textbooks are normally checked out for 2-hours during the library's open hours. The majority of textbooks are limited to use in the library and may not be taken outside the library's main security gates. To check an item's reserve checkout time, you may check the library catalog or a librarian.
